Description

Cialis, the brand name for Tadalafil, is a potent drug that is used in the treatment of erectile dysfunction (ED). The PDE5 inhibitor is also used to treat the symptoms of pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH) and benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). The prescription ED medication works effectively to overcome ED and is preferred by many for its longer lasting effects.

What is the way that Cialis works?

The Cialis medication works similar to Viagra and Levitra, but certain differences in its chemical structure allow for it to be used as a once daily drug for ED and it also works for a longer time in the system, comparatively. The drug aids in relaxing the blood vessels so that there can be increased blood flow to certain parts of the body during sexual arousal, which in turn helps the user to get a hard and sustainable erection. Cialis takes about thirty minutes for the effects to start and lasts in the system for about 36 hours.

Dosage information

The Cialis pills are available as almond-shaped film-coated compressed tablets in varying shades of yellow in the dosage strengths of 2.5mg, 5mg, 10mg, and 20mg. The as needed dose that is prescribed for ED is 10mg. The drug may also be used once daily as maintenance dose at 2.5mg. Not more than one dose should be consumed in a period of 24 hours.

How should Cialis be taken?

Cialis should be used as directed by the medical practitioner and by following the instructions provided on the prescription label. Swallow the pill whole without crushing or chewing it. Since the drug lasts for many hours, it is not necessary to plan ahead and take the dose when used as needed. Take the ED drug at the same time every day when using it as a once daily dose. Sexual stimulation is required for an erection to occur.

Missed dose and overdose

Unless you are on a dosing schedule, you are not likely to miss a dose.

Get emergency medical treatment if overdose is suspected.
